Turkish President Slams India Again During UN Address – Calls Kashmir A ‘Burning Issue’

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday lauded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for “once again raising his voice in support of the rights of the Kashmiri people”.

Erdogan addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) via video-link.

“Turkey’s unwavering support remains a source of strength for the Kashmiris in their legitimate struggle for self-determination,” said PM Imran.

Erdogan called the Kashmir conflict “a burning issue”.

“The Kashmir conflict, which is also key to the stability and peace of South Asia, is still a burning issue. Steps that were taken following the abolition of the special status of Jammu – Kashmir further complicated the problem. We are in favor of solving this issue through dialogue, within the framework of the UN resolutions and especially in line with the expectations of the people of Kashmir.”

Pakistanis and Kashmiris worldwide cannot thank the Turkish president enough for supporting Kashmir on every platform. He has always been a true ambassador of the Kashmir cause.

Meanwhile, India is certainly not happy with Turkey and call Erdogan’s remarks a “gross interference” in the country’s so-called internal affairs.

India continues to violate human rights in Kashmir. Turkey has repeatedly backed Pakistan’s stance on the issue as PM Imran Khan called attention to India’s actions in occupied Kashmir on global platforms.

Meanwhile, the job of the UN to play a more activist and mediatory role regarding Kashmir as suggested by President Erdogan.
