The Maulana Tariq Jameel vs Pakistani media story has seen a new twist. One prominent figure from Pakistani media, Mubasher Lucman, has done the unthinkable and kept his distance from his fraternity over the issue.
Maulana Tariq Jameel in his statement had said that the Pakistani media was full of liars and were constantly mispresenting news. The second startling remark Maulana Tariq made was against the alleged ‘behaya women’ in Pakistan. He said: “Who has torn honor to pieces in my country? Who makes my country’s daughters dance? Who is asking them to wear skimpier clothes? Whom should I hold accountable for this sin?”
Keeping the latter aside, the initial remarks about the Pakistani media have invited a lot of attention. Now, Mubasher Lucman has come out with a statement of his own where he lends support to Maulana Tariq Jameel. Instead of supporting his fellow journalists, Mubasher Lucman has said that everything the Maulana said was correct.

Moreover, Mubasher Lucman went on to say that he could name every channel and their owner and prove that all of them lied and did unethical things. This, again, is a startling remark from a seasoned journalist such as Lucman.
It is pertinent to add here that in the past, Lucman has remained under fire for malpractice with his profession as well. Furthermore, Lucman went on to say that there was no reason that Maulana Tariq Jameel should apologize for his views.

He said: “Instead of asking Maulana Tariq Jameel to apologize, these same journalists should go to their owners and ask them for unpaid salaries for 6 months. Their employees are starving but they are focused on unnecessary things.”
Maulana Tariq Jameel had claimed that the Pakistani media and journalists were very used to lying and did not present the truth. The next day, journalist Hamid Mir and others condemned the statement and demanded an apology.
Following, Maulana Tariq Jameel went on a live call on Muhammad Malik’s show, where Hamid Mir was present as well. With pressure or no, Maulana Tariq Jameel apologized publicly to the journalist fraternity, not only Hamid Mir. Soon after, Tariq Jameel’s supporters demanded an apology from Hamid Mir.
