As per Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan will award Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarships to the first lot of meritorious students in a function programmed on Monday.
The scholarships intend to “enhance access to higher education by awarding 50,000 scholarships” to undergraduate pupils from deprived classes over the next 4 years. Moreover, it is the part of the prime minister’s Ehsaas Programme under the administration of Dr. Sania Nishtar.

As per reports, 25 percent of people live below the poverty line in Pakistan; much of the population cannot pursue education due to meager monetary resources.
Besides, the scholarships will meet tuition and other fees and will cover primary expenses. The extension of scholarship in forthcoming years will depend upon the continuance of educational accomplishment by the student.
The federal administration has reserved Rs20 billion for the program. It is pertinent to mention that 50 percent of scholarships are reserved for female undergraduates. Further, 2 percent of scholarships are for special students. Ehsaas Scholarships Steering Committee, along with Chairman HEC and Chairperson BISP, will manage the program.

Ehsaas undergraduate scholarship program
As per the poverty alleviation division, the scholarship program aims to eradicate disparity in the way of higher education.
“Unlike past scholarships that were aimed at MS or Ph.D. programs, Ehsaas Scholarships focus on the most critical segment namely the 4-year undergraduate program, which contributes the most to income potential.”
Who IS Eligible?
Any student of a four-year degree program in an HEC-recognized public sector university or its affiliated college, with family income under a poverty sill, is eligible to get the scholarship. Further, Ehsaas Scholarships Steering Committee will select the poverty threshold every year.

Moreover, the program is admissible to students in all principal fields of education: agriculture, arts, and humanities, marketing, engineering, medical, environmental and social sciences.
Where and how to apply?
The government has designed an online portal to get applications from undergraduate students enrolled in public universities.
Moreover, the forms will be considered only when all elements are correctly uploaded on the governmental portal. However, hard copies are also acceptable, which can be tendered to the financial aid departments.

The way it works
The universities will publish the scholarships and request applications, along with necessary background documents. Furthermore, the documents include grade sheets, income or salary records, family expenses, the standard of accommodation, and the nature and value of tangible assets.
Moreover, the decisions will confirm after the formal verification of the documents. Also, all recipients of the scholarship shall open bank accounts.
Probably, it is one of the best schemes of the PTI Government. Certainly, an educated youth can alleviate poverty in Pakistan. Currently, Pakistan’s literacy rate is 62 %, including those who can only write their names. Above all, offering free education will soar the literacy rate.
