Pakistani authorities are racing to secure supplies and hospital space in case numbers of COVID-19 patients continue to rise.

The medical staff is also in a dire need of protective gear as they face the pandemic on the frontline. Hundreds of doctors and paramedics have been protesting every few days against what they said was a failure by the government to deliver promised supplies.

Pakistan’s death toll from the coronavirus rose to over 70 after five more patients lost their lives in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases surged to 4,788 with 190 new cases reported.
