It seems like Pakistanis and their love for VIP treatment is never-ending. A video of a dog, seemingly enjoying police protocol in a Sindh Governor House car, has gone viral on social media. Soon, the video brought Governor Sindh Imran Ismail under fire that he had to issue a clarification on the matter.
In the video, the dog could be seen with its head hanging out of the window with no one sitting beside it while a police vehicle rides alongside it.
Minister for Information Science and Technology, Taimur Talpur, who posted the video, could be heard taunting the PTI-led government for the act in his tweet.
According to the details, he filmed the video after he came out of the Chief Minister House following a meeting. Soon, the Sindh governor came under fire and received a lot of criticism on social media.
Meanwhile, governor ki gari main kutta [ dog in governor’s car] is trending on Twitter. People are not happy with the governor.
Pakistani Twittersphere pour scorn on Sindh Governor
Reacting to the backlash, Singh Governor issued a video statement. He clarified that the video is based on a lie. According to him, the dog was not alone in the car. In fact, his family was traveling in the car too.
“The police van was not there for protocol but to protect my family,” he added in a video statement. Terming the move of recording such videos as ‘frivolous’, the Sindh governor added that highlighting such an issue was unnecessary.
“The person who made the video is part of a corrupt government,” he alleged. The governor said the motive of the PTI government is to bring change in the country and it will accomplish its targets.
Here is Singh Governor Imran Ismail’s video statement
It must be noted that last year, Ismail had landed in another controversy. When he was tested positive for COVID-19, the governor blamed the Sindhi people for it. While giving an interview to a private news channel Ismail talked about how he contracted the novel coronavirus.
“People of Interior Sindh have not been educated about the virus, the governor said.” Moreover, he said, “During my visit, they came very close to me due to which I contracted coronavirus.”
Following his comments, people across Sindh began bashing the governor for his ethnic remarks. Not only that but they also demanded his resignation.
