There’s fake news and then there’s Indian media. LOL! Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa ordered an inquiry into the ‘Karachi incident around the arrest of the exiled former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law from his hotel room in Karachi. Meanwhile, media of India did not miss the opportunity to enjoy the unrest in the country and exaggerate the actual situation terming it as civil war in Karachi and Pakistanis can’t help laughing.
“Taking notice of Karachi incident, the COAS has directed Karachi Corps Commander to immediately inquire into the circumstances to determine the facts and report back as soon as possible,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The statement came after PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addressed a press conference. He demanded the Army chief and the ISI chief to probe the matter as the paramilitary Frontier Corps, controlled by the Army, was accused of forcing the police to arrest Safdar.
Consequently, the incident left the provincial government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) red-faced as the couple was their guest in Karachi where Bilawal and Maryam Nawaz had jointly addressed a political gathering against the government on Sunday night, as per the report.
Later, at least 13 top-ranking officers of the Sindh Police decided to go on leave to protest the manner in which the force had been “ridiculed” in the incident involving the arrest of Safdar.
In the meantime, our folks across the border seem to be walking on air, in the delusion that Karachi is facing a ‘civil war’ like situation. Amidst the controversy surrounding the Sindh police, Indian media did not miss the chance to make baseless claims.
Indians could not resist poking their nose & shooting a line
India seems to be under the impression that the clashes taking place between the army and provincial police are causing a civil war to erupt in the port city, Karachi and Pakistanis can’t help laughing. Their insane claims will certainly crack you up!
But the truth is…
Clearly, they could not be any more delusional. But wow! They are definitely not over their habit of butting into affairs that do not even concern them. However, it seems as though they are enjoying the current situation of their neighbors.
Is Karachi really burning with shootouts between civil and military bodies as the Indian reportage is baselessly claiming? Lowkey sadists, we suppose? Nonetheless, their media certainly knows how to spice up and cook up the news.
