The entertainment industry of Pakistan keeps witnessing dramatic twists and turns off-screen, apart form on-screen charades. On one hand there is the ongoing Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi controversy, on the other, another one has stirred a debate on social media.
Yes, we’re talking about a fan’s allegations against Pakistani producer Fizza Ali Meerza, who has given the country some blockbusters such as Actor in Law and Namaloon Afrad 1 and 2.

The incident that has become a talking point for many occurred in the Lux Style Awards 2018. A fan noticed that when young actor Ahad Raza Mir’s name was announced as the best actor, producer Fizza Ali Meerza was captured by cameras ‘booing’ Ahad’s win. The fan thinks that Fizza was against Ahad’s win because Mohsin Abbas was also nominated in the same category for Namaloon Afrad 2.
This is what the fan wrote on different social media platforms: “Fizza Ali Meerza was caught on tv booing to Ahad because he won Best TV actor! She is a known producer of films like Na Maloom Afrad 1/2 and Actor in Law. She has given this industry some good productions. HOWEVER, can she clarify why she was seen discouraging a young, sensational actor for winning an award? Yeah he may not be the one you wanted to win, but can you clarify why you did this publicly to show as if you are ashamed of his win.

Mohsin who was nominated, actually had a bigger heart and smiled and clapped all the way through. I am utterly disappointed and angry at this show of utter childish and idiotic action by a woman who should be encouraging actors rather than discouraging them! What’s the arrogance for? If our producers and reputable producers show these idiocies in live shows, then I don’t know who the young generations of artists are to look up to! Also, Lux should have cut this part because it was clearly an act of disrespect!

However, after the news broke out, Fizza Ali Meerza rid rumors and the controversy, stating that she had not booed Ahad for his win and that footage could be edited the way ‘they’ wanted it to.
