Happiness is a very subjective thing. What makes me happy can entirely be different from what makes you happy. But there are a few things that all of us can (and should) do on a dull, lifeless day to vitalize ourselves and be happy.

In our daily lives, we help a lot of people including our friends and family. In doing so regularly, it becomes a norm for us and the charm of helping someone is masked by the monotony of it. But helping a stranger is one of the few things that gives you the joy you have never experienced before. It can be anything; from helping a disabled person cross the road to giving someone a hand to pick up the dropped grocery.

Plants are one of our best friends. Not only do they make our environment but also our lives better. So planting a tree is the best gift you can give to Mother Nature. It will give you a feeling of bliss when you realize that you have done something fruitful for the planet in addition to making the earth a better place to live.

Sometimes life happens. Your best mates go to different colleges or you have to go to a different city in pursuit of a job. The distance between the cities becomes the distance between your relationships and without you realizing it, that friendship is soon, over. What you should do is pick your phone up, call your friends, and let them know that you still care about them. This will instill a new life in your friendship and make you a happy person.

If there are any people in this world who love you unconditionally, it is your parents. Your mom and your dad love you and they want to be with you. The problem is you only see them occasionally. But calling them and going out with them for coffee or a dinner will make their year and it will be a mood booster for you as well.

Confessing is one of the few things you can do to feel better about yourself. Confessing includes many things. It does not necessarily mean that you tell your crush about your feelings. So if you are having a slow boring day, pick up your bat or football or whatever you are into and show your skills on the field.

It has been proven by research that keeping a pet reduces the stress level and is beneficial for your health in the long run. So keeping a pet can never be a bad idea. Even if you are not the kind of person who is into pets, playing with your friends’ pets once in a while will leave a positive impact on your mood.

Utilize your leisure time in learning something really fun. The internet is full of things and skills to learn and master. In addition, you can read books or watch a documentary. Not only will you learn some cool new things but also find yourself a new hobby.
