Hajra Yamin was born on 19th July 1994 in Rawalpindi. She did her college at Roots College International. She completed her master’s degree in Communications and Media Studies from Fatima Jinnah Women’s University of Rawalpindi.

Born to an average Pakistani family, it is no surprise that Hajra’s parents had reservations about her choice of joining the media industry. What worried her parents the most was the idea of their daughter living alone in Karachi. In one of her interviews, Hajra reveals her struggle as she walked along the path without any substantial support from her family. However, as she reflects on the past events, she empathizes with her parents for their apprehensions for indeed it was very difficult living alone in a new city. Hajra belongs to a progressive family. She has four more sisters and all are career-oriented.

Hajra started her career in 2011 with theatre. She recalls theatre as a more comfortable space where the actor has endless possibilities to express oneself. She participates in theatre plays on and off to polish her acting skills.

She debuted on the silver screen in 2016 with drama, Haya Kay Rang. In the following year, she played notable characters in several plays. She received great appreciation for her role in the social drama, Baandi. Hajra displayed her acting skills to the best by choosing versatile characters. In Naqab Zab she played the role of the obedient, compromising, and family-oriented eldest daughter. On the other hand, in Aas, she portrayed a strong-headed and career-oriented girl, Hania. In Ehd-e-Wafa, she depicted a fearless and go-getter journalist. Hajra enjoys choosing projects that break stereotypes. She played a part in Angeline Malik’s miniseries Choti Choti Baatein in the production, Dil Hi Toh Hai. The four-episode-long series shows the loneliness single parents feel when their children grow up and get busy with their lives.

Hajra Yamin made her film debut in 2018 with Aabis Raza’s movie Maan Jao Naa. Unfortunately, the film did not appeal to the audiences much. However, in the same year, Pinky Memsaab became the breakthrough project for Hajra Yamin. The movie garnered international recognition and appreciation. It bagged the Best Picture-audience award at the UK Asian Film Festival. The movie is very close to Hajra’s heart as it essays her struggles to some extent when she was settling in Karachi.
