Karachi, August 8, 2019: Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director (MD) Careem Pakistan, has taken on a new role at Careem. Effective August 2019, he is leading Careem PAY the technology company’s payments platform, based out of Careem’s Head Office in Dubai, UAE. He will continue to serve on the Board of Careem Pakistan and remain involved in key advocacy initiatives with regulatory authorities to help further the cause of Online Marketplaces in Pakistan.

Junaid will be responsible for the development and growth of Careem’s payments business, which is expected to announce its first product launch towards the end of third quarter 2019. His career spans from trading energy futures at American Electric Power, to launching Pakistan’s premier livestock market TV show ‘Tezi Mandi’ at Geo TV and serving as CEO of Elixir Securities. At Elixir Securities, Junaid led privatization deals including co-managing the largest ever equity transaction in Pakistan – the Government of Pakistan’s $1.02 billion stake sale in Habib Bank Ltd. Junaid also co-founded Salt Arts, Pakistan’s leading Arts management and production agency where he continues to serve as Chairman of the Board.
