They have up till now invested billions of dollars to create something unique and grab the world’s attention. No doubt, Metaverse is futuristically exclusive in every manner and no one can deny that. Today, one of the most interesting and historic news came that Manchester City is about to build Eithad Stadium in Metaverse. Yes! You heard it right, by this Manchester City will become the world’s first team to build their football stadium in the Metaverse.

It’s all going to be possible with the collaboration with none other than Sony, who has already into the Virtual Reality world and been doing awesome.

Manchester City is all set to build Etihad Stadium in Metaverse

According to the sources, Manchester City the reigning champions of the Premier League has started the construction of the world’s first football stadium in the metaverse with the expert assistance of virtual reality (VR) specialists from Sony.

Metaverse is something that has already been predicted in 2011 by the famous cartoon series Simpsons and now it’s in real-time.

Both the parties have signed three years of the contract, even it’s in the early stage teams of the company’s key specialists have already visited the Etihad Stadium to monitor its mapping digitally and develop a virtual reality version of it as per the recent reports received.

In a VR world, the iconic stadium will be transformed into a central hub and it all happens by image analysis and skeletal-tracking technology developed by Hawk-Eye.

This whole project might be the dream come true for most of the football fans out there, who won’t be able to travel can watch the live matches, and meet their favorite players being in their comfort zone at home. It’s going to be a great initiative looking at the current Covid-19 scenario where it’s rising and more restrictions coming in too.  

Additional ideas of the concept

The club also disclosed some additional concept ideas, “real possibility of fans meeting up with other players in the Metaverse, communicating with one another, and buying things that are not accessible in the real world.”

City Football Group’s chief marketing and fan engagement officer, Nuria Tarre, said, “The whole point we could imagine of having a metaverse is you can recreate a game, you could watch the game live, you’re part of the action differently through different angles and you can fill the stadium as much as you want because it’s unlimited, it’s completely virtual.”

She further added, “I think the traditional image of someone sitting on a sofa, watching a screen, is something we cannot imagine is going still be the reality not even in 10 years, maybe in five years already. Things move much faster than we think.”

Metaverse has been part of people’s lives, because recently in India’s state where couple became the first-ever to organize a wedding ceremony in the Metaverse.
