Seven months to go for the mega cricket event in the shorter format “ICC T20 World Cup” and the Indian side already collapsed under British dominancy in their first T20 series.
Indian side didn’t see it coming, because of their overpowering performance in the test series even the fans have thought Kohli’s warriors would get a secure win.
After the outstanding performance in the test format, where they outnumbered the English men and showed them why the Indian test team stands NO.1 in the long format of cricket.
And that win helped Indian team to book the spot for the final World Test Championship against New Zealand in June at Southampton.
But the scenario has changed when the Indian batting order collapsed in the early stage of the innings and only scored 124.
Upper Order Collapsed
Indian team loses their three wickets in just 22 during powerplay and from then their performance couldn’t recover from the early damage. Shreyas Iyer’s 67 helped the host to at least cross a hundred and give a hopeful total to the visitors.
The day got more worst for the host when the England pair Joss Butler and Jason Roy didn’t give room to Indian bowlers and demolished them in the powerplay.
Their early start was so dominating against the host, that helped their team to build a 72 runs partnership and then David Mallan and Joss finished the whole game.
What can be the worst for the Indian side, the most dominant team in the shorter format as most of the players score high-scoring runs in the Indian Premier League and exhibited such weak performance.
Plan B
It doesn’t look like that, Virat Kohli will lose confidence and recover from the loss. The same thing happened in their test series, where they lost the first match and then England couldn’t stop the Indians.
As on the recent interview, Indian cricket management said, that they would wear explosive metaphorically as a label and Virat Kohli demanded that his team should play seven months on to be able to destroy every opponent in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
As they had been knocked out from the semi-finals in the last edition of the T20 World Cup by the West Indies where Simmons gave thrashed the host and managed to hit the winning six run in Virat Kohli’s last over.
So, the Indian team doesn’t want to repeat the same scenario in October and reclaim what they have won in the very first edition of the T20 world cup in South Africa by defeating Pakistan under Ms Dhoni’s captaincy.
Although the Indian team planned to explode against the English side, things didn’t work in their favor at all, and faced humiliation in front of their home fans.
Now Kohli has got 4 more T20 matches to recover from the first match embarrassment and redeem the series with victories.
The Indian side has to showcase their true class of T20 skills, as people know them as rebellious when it comes to shorter formats.
The second T20 match will be held today, Indian audience might have faith in their players, that they will conquer the home T20 series, and aware of the other teams for the T20 World Cup event.
