In recent events Uber the global ride-hailing service completely closed its service in Pakistan before which it had limited its operation only in Lahore since October 2022.
Uber Acquired Careem in May 2019
These steps taken by Uber are a sequel to Careem’s acquisition by them in May 2019. Uber’s global-level strategy may be understood by such actions as to expand Uber’s business globally.

With Careem acting as a subsidiary brand of Uber in major cities of Pakistan, during Uber’s operations in Pakistan since 2019 Uber captains were given preference. The captains can switch between the two apps at ease; another plan of the Ubers strategic plan to expand its global presence.
