Turkey Hints At Suspending Diplomatic Ties With UAE After Its Deal With Israel

Turkey May Recall Ambassadors From The UAE & Suspend Diplomatic Relations

Recently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) joined hands with Israel for better inter-relations. The ill-fated Palestinians, who have been deprived of so much at the hands of Israelites, are once again being done dirty. Thursday’s surprise announcement of this ‘normalization relations’ has made many Muslim countries call out UAE for their deceit.

Palestinians have known about the existence of relations, although low profile, between the UAE and Israel for years. Still, they did not see an announcement of formal ties between the two countries coming this soon.

The professed ‘Abraham Agreement’, announced by the United States President Donald Trump on Thursday, secures an Israeli commitment to halt further annexation of Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank.

Turkey may suspend ties with UAE after Israel deal

Earlier on Friday, the Turkish foreign ministry condemned the UAE-Israel deal for betraying the ‘Palestinian’. It is to be noted that the UAE will be the third Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with Israel following Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to reporters in Istanbul on August 14. Erdogan said Turkey might suspend its diplomatic relations with the UAE, or call back its ambassador over after a landmark deal between Israel and the Gulf state.

“I gave an order to the foreign minister. I said we could suspend diplomatic relations with the Abu Dhabi administration or withdraw our ambassador,” Erdogan told reporters.

Erdogan, being a strong advocate of Palestinian rights, has criticized Israeli policies in the West Bank on many occasions. Earlier this year he criticized Washington’s Middle East peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as ‘treason.’

In addition to this, Erdogan said the UAE’s controversial deal with Israel is problematic. Also that Turkey stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

“History will not forget those who betray the Palestinian people and sell out the Palestinian cause,” Erdogan’s spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, tweeted on Friday. “Turkey will continue to stand by the Palestinian people,” he added.

Moreover, the Turkish foreign ministry earlier described the UAE-Israel deal as a hypocritical betrayal of the Palestinian cause. The ties between the UAE and Turkey have continued to be strained for a long time. Additionally, they further deteriorated over the conflict in Libya where the two countries support opposing sides.

Muslims all over the globe are enraged over the deal to normalize relations between the Jewish state and the UAE. In addition to this, Pakistanis and Muslims across the world also rejected the deal. A deal that, without a doubt, comprises Palestine, its people, and the future of Palestine cause. A big NO.

More so, through social media, many Pakistanis sent the message to the UAE after it recognized Israel, that ‘this green passport is not for sale‘.
