Former religious scholar and famous television personality Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s former wife Syeda Bushra Iqbal revealed on Wednesday that he has divorced her, referring to it as the most ‘painful and traumatic thing’ for her and their children. Dr. Liaquat divorced her on a phone call allegedly at the request of his second wife Tuba who now faces backlash on social media.
It has been more than a year since Dr. Liaquat got married for the second time. His first wife never really addressed it directly but shared relevant quotes that easily led us to realize that she was referring to Dr. Liaquat’s second marriage.
In 2018, the news of Dr. Liaquat’s second wife Tuba came as a major shock to everyone. Interestingly, the undisclosed wedding came to light after a copy of his marriage registration certificate got leaked on social media.
Later, the televangelist confirmed his second marriage in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Of course, comments were made and his second wife also received a lot of criticism.
Recently, the first wife of Dr. Liaquat also changed her Twitter profile which raised a lot of questions. Iqbal removed Liaquat’s surname from her Twitter bio. Her profile now reads, ‘Syeda Bushra Iqbal.’ Speculations of divorce raised from there.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, she said it was high time to bring about some clarity to her relationship with the PTI leader, revealing that he had divorced her.
“However, divorcing me is one thing, but doing it in front of Tuba on call at her request, was perhaps the most painful and traumatic thing for my children and me. I rest my case to Allah,” she said.
Tuba Aamir faces criticism online now
No one knew whether the television host had divorced his first wife, and neither of them ever talked about it. After seeing Iqbal’s statement, social media users have taken to the famous host and Aamir’s social media accounts to share their two cents.
It must be noted that Dr. Liaquat announced his second marriage a year after nikkah which was performed by Mufti Abdul Qadir in presence of close friends.
Dr. Liaquat and his first wife have two kids together, a son named Ahmed Aamir, and a daughter Dua Aamir. Liaquat’s first wife and daughter earlier expressed their distress on social media after finding out about his second marriage. More so, the daughter termed Tuba as ‘homewrecker’ and ‘fake’.
