Indian record label T-series has taken down Pakistani singer Atif Aslam’s version of the song ‘Kinna Sona’ from YouTube after facing a severe backlash on social media.

The original romantic number first featured in the 2019 Bollywood movie Marjaavaan, which starred Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. Meet Bros sung the song in that film. However, T-Series recently released another version of the song in Atif Aslam’s voice on June 23 despite a ban on Pakistani artistes in India.

The music label soon became a target of immense criticism in India after it’s release on their YouTube channel. The label was then forced to take down the video with an apology.

After a lot of pressure and threats, T-Series removed the song from their channel. But, it didn’t go down well with the Indians. Some of them are pouring their love for the Pakistani singer on Twitter and #IndiaLovesAtifAslam is a top trend.

Moreover, the issue also caught the attention of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. MNS Cinema Wing president Ameya Khopkar tweeted, “WARNING TO T-SERIES. Takedown Pakistani singer Atif-Aslam song from your T-Series youtube channel immediately else we will take major action against T-Series”.

T-Series issued an apology with a lame excuse

However, T-Series after several threats also issued an apology where it claimed they didn’t know it was sung by Atif. What a lame excuse!

The statement read, “It just come to our notice that the said song has been sung by Atif Aslam this song was put up on the YouTube channel of T-Series by one of our employees. He was unaware of his action while putting up the song. We condemn our mistake and apologize for the same. We assure you that henceforth we will neither release, nor promote the song on any platform of T-Series. Meanwhile, we are removing the said song from our YouTube channel.”

Also, T-Series said they would not be releasing or promoting any work by Pakistani artists.

Well, dear T-Series, our singers don’t need an Indian label to promote us. Pakistani singers are famous for their talent and originality in music. They don’t copy from others. Especially, Atif’s soulful voice is known across the globe. He doesn’t need any promotions as he keeps impressing his fans through music with or without any label.
