Imran Khan was received by President Donald Trump at the White House. Trump welcomed PM Imran, the two shook hands and waved at the PTI supporters standing outside.
Shortly after meeting Imran, he talked to the media and said, “They [Pakistanis] are smart. They are tough,” and mentioned he has many friends in Pakistan. Touching on the Afghan issue, Trump mentioned how winning a war is easy for America, however, that is not what they want. He said, “If we wanted to fight a war in Afghanistan and win it, I could win that war in a week. I just don’t want to kill 10 million people”.
Trump continued speaking on Afghanistan, saying it would be “wiped off the face of the earth” and “It would be gone… It would be over literally in 10 days,” he added.
Imran Khan Sought Trump’s Help In Establishing Peace Within The Sub-Continent.
“It is the most powerful country in the World, the United States. It can play the most important role in bringing peace in the sub-continent,” said Imran Khan to the President. Also talking about the occupied Kashmir issue and subcontinent’s helplessness towards solving it, Imran added, “I feel only the most powerful state headed by President Trump can bring the two countries together,”
Furthermore, Imran Said, “From my point [of view] I can tell you, we have tried our best. We made all overtures to India to start a dialogue, resolve our differences, but unfortunately, we haven’t made any headway yet” he added, “So I am hoping President Trump will push this process forward. You will have the prayers of over a billion people if you can mediate and resolve this situation,” Khan said to Trump.
Among the talks between the two premiers, President Trump’s statements on Kashmir has steered Indians against him and has placed them in a state of frenzy.
The much-awaited meeting of Imran Khan with Donald Trump took place this Monday as scheduled and among the things anticipated to be discussed, Kashmir issue definitely wasn’t expected.
According to the US President, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Has Asked Trump To Mediate On The Kashmir Dispute With Pakistan.
Donald while talking to Imran Khan at the White House, said, “He actually said, ‘Would you like to be a mediator or arbitrator?’ I said, ‘Where?’ He said, ‘Kashmir.’ Because this has been going on for many, many years,” he continued, “If I can help, I would love to be a mediator,” – These words should be taken into serious consideration as this might change the years’ long policy of the US on Kashmir that the issue would be resolved bilaterally.
India Quickly Responded Rejecting The Claims Made By Trump, Saying Modi Has Never Asked For Trumps Support In The Kashmir Matter.
Official Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs, India tweeted clarifying India’s stance, he wrote, “We have seen
@POTUS‘s remarks to the press that he is ready to mediate, if requested by India & Pakistan, on Kashmir issue. No such request has been made by PM @narendramodi to US President. It has been India’s consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally. Any engagement with Pakistan would require an end to cross border terrorism. The Shimla Agreement & the Lahore Declaration provide the basis to resolve all issues between India & Pakistan bilaterally”
Raveesh Kumar’s Tweet:
Pakistan has tried it’s best to find a way to resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute and has repeatedly sought United States’s mediation, even raising the issue on an international level but India has never shown any keen interest. In fact, India would refuse to involve any third-party deeming the matter an ‘internal-affair’.
