For all the coders out there, it is an entertaining tad of trivia: Ganagam Style by PSY has been viewed on YouTube so many times that it broke the view counter of Youtube. Ganagam Style is the first video which broke the reaches of a 32-bit integer.
Commenting on this topic, YouTube said:
Well! It has surely left everyone confused and wondering what it actually means! While coding one often has to think over the fact that how one is going to store data, like numbers. If one needs a 32-bit integer or a 64-bit integer? An integer of 32-bit consumes a comparatively less memory, but on the flip side it can only be utilized to store numbers from −2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647, whereas an integer of 64-bit requires more memory for its usage, but it can be used to store numbers from −9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807.
(For making things simpler, the matter of signed and unsigned integers is ignored)
With the latest code change, YouTube can now (theoretically) support videos with up-to 9 Quintillion views.
