Karachi is a huge city with millions of people. The streets are crowded and to drive around, it is more stressful than giving your exams. Spread over 3,780 km², it gives the title of one of the largest cities in the world. With this size comes many places of interest. Which automatically means that there are a lot of places to visit in Karachi.
Karachi has the best spots to have fun, eat, and to just chill. Here is a list of places that you can visit in Karachi this weekend with your friends, family or significant other.
Fun Places to Visit In Karachi
There are a lot of fun places to visit in the vast city of Karachi. However, it will take you more than a year to go to each and every place in Karachi. Let’s kick this list off!
Turtle Beach
I put this on the first spot because I love beaches and turtles. Turtle beach has to be one of the best beaches in Karachi. Right now it is probably not the right time to visit turtle beach if you want to spot turtle but it is still absolutely beautiful. There are several huts located throughout the beach which you can rent from anywhere around 10,000-25,000 PKR. I would suggest going to turtle beach in the winters, it is chilly and you can have supreme fun just spotting turtles and seeing how they beautiful they are.
Churna Island
Churna island is located 6 to 7 KM away from Karachi in the Arabian Sea, it is a 1.5 km² island. There are a lot of activities that you can do on this island including cliff jumping, scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing and plenty more. So if you are an adrenaline junkie Churna Island is one of the best places for you to be at. In addition to the water sport that is available over there, Pakistan Navy uses the island as a shooting range so that sounds a lot of fun as well. The marine life submerged around the island is exquisite and I would totally recommend scuba diving. Churna Island is one of the best places to visit in Karachi.

Sea View Karachi
Sticking to the water bodies, the sea view is another good place to visit in Karachi. Right now it is the best time to visit the beaches of Karachi since the government has passed a mandate that says the upkeep of beaches will be as necessary. While there are a lot of beaches in Pakistan the sea view has its own perks.
Firstly it is easily reachable and you don’t have to trek 10-12 km to reach the place. The roads leading to the sea view are all inhabited and go through some of the poshest areas of Karachi. The sea view is situated in a location that is quite secure, so security won’t be much of an issue as it is with other beaches. The sea view is stretched over 2 km lined with eateries and an arcade/amusement park. There are horse/camel riding, ATV riding and shaded benches for you to sit at. The smell is not too friendly, but a worthy sacrifice for all the fun that is to be had.
Marina Club Karachi
Do you like water, do you like ships, do you like cruising the water on a ship, if you said yes to any one of those things then Marina club is the destination for you. As you probably could’ve guessed what the club is all about. They give you a ship which you can rent for an hour or however long you long. Furthermore, they have a lot of different types of ships of different price ranges. They even offer food on the ship and you can even fish for food. You can make a whole day out of Marina Club, it is one of the best things Karachi has to offer.
Quaid-e-Azam House Museum
Quaid-e-Azam was the title given to Muhammad Ali Jinnah the founder of Pakistan. He was the one who gave Pakistanis the freedom from the Britishers and this museum is the Karachi house of the esteemed personality. The house was originally purchased in 1943 and was lived in by the Quaid himself and his sister. Although the Quaid passed away in 1948 (R.I.P) his sister resided in the house after his demise, until leaving in 1964. The museum was established for the public in 1985 and in it, you can see his living area, bedroom, changing room, library and all the original painting and architecture of that era. It is a real timepiece held preserved over the years.
Masjid-e-tooba/Gol Masjid Karachi
Masjid-e-Tooba is locally known as Gol Masjid because of its domed roof. Gol Masjid is a major public attraction, it is made out of pearl white marbles and is situated on 236 feet of land. The mosque can hold over 5000 at once and is the 18th largest mosque in the world.
The National Museum of Pakistan
The National Museum holds rare paintings, relics, sculptures and models that depict the Pakistani culture and era of the past. The museum has 11 galleries containing items from the Indus valley civilization up till the recent past. It also has some old scriptures of the Holy Quran. If you are a history nut the National Museum of Pakistan is perfect for you.
Do Darya Karachi
Do Darya is a pristine eating spot made on top of a creek. It is a line of open-air restaurants that overlook a beautiful creek. Going over there over the winters is especially fun because the seagulls do a dance on the creek which is captivating and mesmerizing all at the same time. The top restaurants on my list are Kolachi and Kebabjees.
NAPA/Arts Council of Pakistan
Both of these buildings are opposite each other and both offer top of the line theatre plays from all around the globe. There is almost always a play festival going on in Karachi in one of these two locations. The theatres are exquisite and the performers even more. These places are not only limited to the theatre they also host qawali nights a classic form of music which is beloved by many. NAPA is built inside of the Hindu Gymkhana and its architecture is very 1900s. It was a sight to behold, I literally stood there for good 15 minutes just admiring the buildings.
Pakistan Maritime and PAF Museums
The Maritime Museum is one of the largest ones in the country, it has a lot of military pieces laid on display from artillery, guns, ships, aircraft and even a live submarine which you can explore. The maritime museum is made up of 6 galleries and contains dioramas, models, murals and relief sculptures with staff that educates visitors of what they all are.
While the maritime museum highlights the Navy the PAF Museum highlights the airforce. For all you aeronautical junkies out there PAF museum is the best place to be. It contains planes, radars, weapons, fuel tanks, jets, and war memorabilia. It has detailed plaques in front of every display which tells you exactly the thing in front of you is. From the date, it was made to how and for what purpose it was used. It also consists of WWI and WWII planes and modern era planes as well. It also has amusement park rides, a variety of food options and many places to relax scattered across the garden.
These are my picks for the 10 must visit places of Karachi. So, now pick one and go to it this weekend.
