Imagine looking at a 7kilogram hairball being removed from the stomach of a person!
Reported by two Pakistani doctors working in the United States and reported in the British Medical Journal, Rapunzel Syndrome is an extremely rare medical condition in which the patient undergoes trichotillomania (hair pulling) and trichophagia (ingestion of hair).
The hairball extracted from the intestines of the female patient weighed a whopping 7 kilogram and measured 6 inches by 4 inches in area.
The patient presented with distended stomach filled with gas and fluid and suffered from nausea and constipation
Surgery was performed and she was kept in the hospital for six days. These patients usually are also suffering from psychiatric illnesses and should be kept under a specialist supervision.
