This Very Popular Brand of Chocolate Might Be Infected With Salmonella!

Chocolate is something we all love.

It is something that has become an integral part of our lives. It is something that makes us very happy. And that’s not just a coincidence. Apparently, chocolate actually releases chemicals in your brain that make you happy!

Basically, we could live on nothing but chocolate for the rest of our lives and die happily from the diabetes that results from eating an entire jar of Nutella in one go.

But this post is not about the wonderful world of chocolate, marvelous though it is. It is about a brand of chocolate that we all love that has allegedly called back several kinds of chocolate due to it possibly being infected with Salmonella. Yes, GALAXY, we are looking at you.

It’s not Galaxy itself but the company that runs it, i.e. Mars. The company said it discovered the risk of possible infection on Thursday after testing the chocolate in its headquarters at Slough. However, Mars officials did not know how long the products had been in stores.

Mars released the following statement after the discovery:

“Through our routine testing, we have detected the potential presence of Salmonella from the ingredients used to make our chocolate.

“As a precaution, we are voluntarily recalling certain Galaxy Smooth Milk chocolate bars, Galaxy Minstrels and Galaxy Counters and Teaser bars. We are working closely with the relevant food safety authorities and our customers to ensure that the affected products are no longer available for purchase.

“If you have one of the products listed above, you should not eat it. Please keep the product and contact our consumer care team to arrange return and reimbursement.

“This precautionary recall has been initiated with the best interests of our consumers at heart and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

“No other brands or varieties of chocolate, pack formats, bar sizes or best before dates are affected.

I know exactly what you’re feeling.

For the sake of clarity, these are the brands of chocolate affected: Galaxy Milk 200g bars, Galaxy Milk 42g bars and multipacks, Galaxy Counters 78g treat bags and112g pouches, and Maltesers Teasers 35g bars. Only those products with best before dates in May 2018 are affected.

So be careful. Do not let your love for chocolate ruin your life. Just look at the expiration date before buying any of these. There are plenty of other brands to choose from as well. So worry not. You can still eat, breathe and drink chocolate.
