The Students From GIK Institute Secured 6th Position At the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2017

Team Hammerhead from GIK Institute in Pakistan secured 6thposition by recording a mileage of 311.2 (km/kWh) at the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2017.

Team Toyota Hammerhead ARC, from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, Pakistan, participated in Shell Eco Marathon Asia (SEM Asia) 2017 and secured 6th position in the Prototype category, leaving behind many technologically advanced countries.

Shell Eco-Marathon is a unique competition that challenges students around the world to design, build and drive the most energy-efficient car. Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2017 was held in Singapore from 16th to 19th of March 2017.  For the last seven years, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) has made the country proud in Shell Eco-Marathon by gaining recognition in different domains pertaining to design, manufacturing, and communication.

This year, team Toyota Hammerhead was able to uphold the legacy of the predecessors. The team surpassed many countries like Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea and secured 6thposition in the prototype category by successfully recording a mileage of 311.2 (km/kWh). In total, 123 teams competed from Asia this year.

Around nine teams from Pakistan participated in the competition, in the Prototype and Urban category. The Shell supervisors appreciated the design and safety measures of Team Hammerhead’s vehicle.

Of all the teams, Team Toyota Hammerhead had the honor of raising the Pakistani flag at SEM Asia’s Flag-off ceremony. Team Hammerhead’s circuitry was given special appreciation by the technical inspectors at SEM’17.
