The Day-Boarding Experience

The Day-Boarding Experience

For many families, the question of education goes beyond academics. It’s about finding the right environment to nurture a child’s intellectual and social growth, while maintaining a strong connection to home. This is where day boarding schools are stepping in, offering a unique blend of structured learning and the comfort of family life.

Day-boarding is a type of schooling where students attend school for an extended period of time. It is from early morning until late afternoon or evening. Furthermore, parents can visit day-boarding during its time as well. Day-boarding schools are a common practice in developed countries.

At CSI, our extended day program brings in all the benefits of day-boarding. The program envisions empowering students by nurturing talents and interests, taking a holistic development of the student by developing comprehensive knowledge, practical skills, and positive attitudes, and turning students into Global Citizens by taking local culture appreciation, participating in national and international events and establishing global connections.

The CSI Promise

Central School International (CSI) takes flight on the wings of the belief that true education shapes a child’s outlook to be positive and hopeful, their character to be noble, their actions to be meaningful, and their values to be built on firm foundations while ensuring that their cognitive and academic development occurs in the best possible manner. True education, for a child, is the growth of their entire being. We recognize the unique spark in every child and aim to nurture it through a curriculum that is aligned with global academic standards while being culturally rooted. This commitment to holistic learning ensures every child is ready to take flight, and is future-ready. Our curriculum, learning spaces, teacher training process, and facilities such as day boarding and transport are all designed keeping in view the nurturing goals of parents for their children.

Academic Advantages:

One of the biggest draws of day boarding is the extended learning opportunities. These allow children to not only grow academically but also in sports and other extracurricular activities.

Throughout the world, developed countries often use extended school hours to enhance educational outcomes and maintain competitiveness.

With more time in school environment, the students can benefit from:

  • Supervised Study Sessions: where teachers can provide guidance and address questions ensuring students make the most of their learning time, diminishing the hassle of tuitions.
  • Enriched Curriculum: Day boarding schools offer a wider range of courses and activities, allowing students to explore their interests beyond the traditional school day.
  • Extended Learning Experience: From robotics clubs to theater productions, day boarding programs often offer a wider variety of activities, fostering well-rounded development.
  • Social Development: Spending more time with classmates fosters strong friendships and a sense of community. Students learn teamwork, collaboration and social skills in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Structure and Supervision: For working parents, day boarding provides peace of mind. Knowing their children are engaged in productive activities under qualified supervision is a major benefit.

The intrinsic benefits of day-boarding are many. First and foremost, one can see that the benefit of extended school hours is increased learning and better academic achievement. Problem solving skills become more manageable as students have more opportunities to participate in engaging learning activities. Day-boarding has an immediate impact on student-teacher relations because the time of communication between the two increases. This increase strengthens the relationship between the two. Health and Nutrition also become an important goal and students are then given a healthy diet, which encourages students to develop it as a habit. This communal belonging helps students in community engagement and develops their sense towards a communal setting in a world that is becoming increasingly individualistic. As CSI aims for development of the character of the student along with academics, it has adopted this approach.

The need for day-boarding is much stronger in Pakistan than is actually realized. The average calendar for school days in Pakistan is 180 days in Public schools and 190 days in Private schools. In comparison, Japan has a 240-day school calendar. Furthermore, social disruptions in major cities in Pakistan have increased since 2017. This makes the already shorter school day calendar even shorter.

Day-Boarding would align Pakistan’s school year more closely with international standards particularly in high-performing countries and hence can better prepare students for global competitiveness. CSI’s curriculum is culturally driven and globally aligned and is designed for day boarding to include an Extended Learning Program. At CSI it is our aim to create global citizens with a focus on developing 21st Century skills – Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking, Creativity, and Citizenship.
