The Cultural Problem of Our Education System

The Cultural Problem of Our Education System

In recent highlights, the minister for education Khalid Maqbool Siddique urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to impose an educational emergency for 4 years and to increase the educational budget. The problem in this case does not pertain to education but the understanding of the educational system.

What is an Educational System?

Every country has its educational system the result of which determines its literacy rate. The literacy rate is the accumulation of the total output of the educational system.

Broad base education systems are there to assure that the student throughout their academic journey is exposed to the basic structure of analyzing and synthesizing across all fields of life; natural, biological, and social, sciences.

If deemed necessary passive force is used such as teachers punishing young children for not doing their work or creating problems for others to acquire information.

Exams are held at regular intervals to ensure that a student can exhibit the skills taught to him during a period.

Universities are those places where these skills are narrowed down to one specific field and offer specialized degrees. These degrees are recognized by both private and government institutions generating employment.

The Case of Education in Pakistan

Pakistan is a multiethnic country with each ethnicity having its unique history therefore every ethnicity has its cultural practices encompassing society’s moral norms. One allegation that is usually placed on the Pakistani government is it has always tried to sideline its cultural diversity and history for Arab culture.

The educational system is the best way to recognize this diversity though there are many steps taken there may be room for more. These steps may lead ethnicities to resonate with the educational system.

The local governments of each province are autonomous in many departments including education. Emphasis by the government on this issue will lead to local cultures finding resonance with the system.

Increasing the budget along with the infrastructure alone may not lead to a higher educational rate rather a need for more ideological consideration may lead to a higher educational rate.
