Tezgam Express Caught Fire After Gas Cylinder Explosion

Unfortunate news has surfaced where Tezgam train’s two coaches traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi were engulfed by fire after a gas cylinder brought by one of the passengers exploded. Currently, according to the sources, 67 people lost their lives and 13 are severely injured. Pakistan Railway officials have confirmed about gas cylinder exploding. Moreover, out of 67, nearly 16 bodies have been burned beyond recognition. The coach that exploded was booked by Tableeghi Jamaat’s men.

They were boiling eggs on the gas stove for breakfast when it exploded.

The affected bogies were separated from the rest of the train and firefighters along with other emergency teams rushed to the sight. Bodies of those who passed away including the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ). Pakistan Army group was also dispatched and an army aviation heli was airlifting the injured from the place of incident to safety. The rescue and relief operations were being carried out with full force while the bogies melted away in the high-degree fire.

The count of dead bodies is increasing with the passage of time, so no exact number can be quoted so far. CEO Pakistan Railways, Aijaz Ahmad told media that the train schedule will not be affected or changed due to this very unfortunate incident.

Of course, it is extremely shocking that the passengers were allowed to bring in such explosive items on board in the first place. However, they could have somehow slipped it in. Whatever the case, the sheer ignorance of the passengers took the lives of so many people. Now, many families won’t be able to even recognize their loved ones.

Pakistan Railways has seen some sad days this year alone. However, this is one of the most painful events so far. Only a small mistake cost so many lives and injuries. Everyone should take this as an example and exercise maximum caution. Moreover, the security system should be improved. May Allah give sabr to all the grieving families and fast recovery to the injured.
