The world can’t stop grieving over the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the 34-year old Bollywood star. He took his own life on 14th June 2020, after allegedly succumbing to his severe depression.

Sushant Singh was an iconic star, with his adorable, boy next door smile who managed to win almost everyone’s heart. Not only was the poor actor defamed by the Bollywood industry, rather he was trolled by them like no other. However, it was his death that made these Bollywood bullies such as Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, and many more to face the wrath of the public.

Above all, just as petitions began to sign and trolling began against all those that made Sushant Singh’s life unbearable, producer Vijay Shekar Gupta and director Shamik Maulik are teaming up to honor Sushant Singh Rajput by making a biopic on his life and career. The question stands, is that a wise choice. Or another tactic of cashing in on his tragic end?

Suicide or murder?

Just a week later a film is going to be in the works, which will portray the life of Sushant Singh Rajput. The film is going to be titled ‘Suicide Or Murder?’ While talking to the media, producer Vijay S. Gupta pointed out:

“Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide came as a shock to all of us, but it is not new. Many actors who come to the industry to chase their dreams of making it big here end up not getting work. Many take this route, and some keep struggling all their lives. So, we wanted to tell a story of how actors from small towns who don’t have godfathers in Bollywood struggle.”

The entire film is going to show the brutality of the mafia or lords of the Bollywood industry in a more clear light. On one hand, this surely is something triggering and worth praise. However, when you look at it from another angle, it seems a little bizarre to make a movie out of someone who took his own life because of the very reason-recognition in public.

Will Sushant get justice?

When asked more about what the story plot be and how the story will be associated with the Sushant Singh Rajput, Vijay further on added:

“The film is not Sushant’s biopic. It is inspired by his life and work. We are writing the script. It will be based on thorough research of the star’s life, and we will be talking to a lot of other actors who are considered ‘outsiders’ in the industry. Star kids will not be a part of this film. We will be working with a rising star who is not a star kid. We should be able to start shooting in a few months.”

What should make the fans ecstatic, is turning out to be a bit rueful. Although, all is being said in favor of Sushant Singh, why does it not feel like it? Why does this entire aspect also feel like just another opportunity for directors and producers to cash in? But then again, nothing more can be said about it until we get to see the movie. Until then all we can hope is that it does Sushant Singh justice.
