Speed Eater Mike Jack Sets Record for Drinking Capri Sun with Paper Straw

Mike Jack, a champion speed eater from Canada, has achieved something many thought was impossible: he broke the record for the fastest time to drink a Capri Sun with a paper straw. This task is much harder than it sounds, and many people, including Mike, had tried and failed before him.

During a visit to the Guinness World Records headquarters in London, Mike decided to give it another shot. Thanks to some smart advice from his wife and coach, Jamie, he finally succeeded, drinking the juice in just 21.71 seconds. The previous record for drinking a Capri Sun with a plastic straw was only 8.02 seconds, held by Fayis Nazer from India, highlighting the extra challenge that paper straws present.

Guinness World Records judge Juliet Dawson explained that Mike could not have more than half a teaspoon of juice left in the pouch when he finished, or he would be disqualified. Mike focused hard during the attempt, making sure to handle the straw carefully to avoid spills. After he finished, Juliet opened the pouch to check how much liquid was left. Mike felt relieved when it measured exactly half a teaspoon, securing his record title.

His wife Jamie celebrated his achievement with a kiss and praised his efforts. Mike shared, “Her technique helped me a lot. I learned to blow a little extra air into the straw to get all the juice out.”

Holding his new record certificate, Mike said, “I’m very happy that I finally achieved this one. This one I worked really hard for.” Mike also has a YouTube channel called Mike Jack Eats Heat!, where he shares his spicy eating challenges. He holds several other records, including the fastest time to eat 50 Carolina Reaper chili peppers in 6 minutes and 49.20 seconds.
