Management Issues ‘Vague’ Clarification After Disastrous Solis Festival

Solis Festival

The most anticipated Solis festival has been canceled in Islamabad on Saturday after a series of horrific incidents occurred during the event. People immediately took to different social networking sites to bash the management for not taking appropriate security measures for the event.

Some have also revealed that the event was crashed by rioters and a platform even broke, injuring many audience members. Few harassment incidences have also been reported by the netizens.

The fourth edition of the EDM festival was held at the Pakistan National Council of Arts. It was supposed to go on till midnight but was shut down around 9:30pm.

Several people were hurt when the VIP stage collapsed mid-show due to overcrowding, several sexual harassment cases, fake ticket sales, and mugging attempts have also been reported during the show. There have been rumors about one death due to the stampede as well.

The organizers reportedly shut off the music and lights in an effort to get people to leave. Videos surfaced on social media show people in the crowd throwing bottles and other projectiles at the performing DJs. Similar scenes were seen during a Solis event in Lahore last year.

Management’s sub-par clarification

After the management decided to cancel the event midway, they took to their Instagram to give clarification about the whole situation.

According to them, the overcrowding was due to many printing fake tickets and breaking in. However, they failed to address other important issues like sexual harassment during the show.

We had to make the difficult decision to stop the event due to hundreds of individuals who fought their way through with fake tickets. This spoiled the night for everyone else that purchased authorized tickets,” they wrote.

They further added, “As always, security and safety are at the utmost priority for our festival attendees, vendors, sponsors, and artists. We want all our fans to feel safe and happy at every show, and because of the actions of these individuals we weren’t able to do so”.

For the 4th edition of Solis Festival, we were really excited to bring the festival back to home grounds- Islamabad. We had to make the difficult decision to stop the event due to hundreds of individuals who fought their way through with fake tickets. This spoiled the night for everyone else that purchased authorized tickets. As always, security and safety is at the utmost priority for our festival attendees, vendors, sponsors and artists. We want all our fans to feel safe and happy at every show, and because of the actions of these individuals we weren’t able to do so. We will be issuing a further statement at a later time, but for now want to thank our fans who purchased real tickets and came to genuinely enjoy the event.
