According to sources, the Sindh government has chosen to create a new patrol police force for highways to make the roads safer and cut down on crime.
The choice was made at a meeting led by Sindh Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon. It was decided to send a special police force to patrol major highways and roads that link cities.
The main job of the patrol police team will be to keep people traveling on Sindh’s highways safe… The cops will have up-to-date surveillance cameras and other tools they need to stop crimes and look into them.
Previously, the traffic police decided to equip dump trucks with cameras and trackers to monitor their speeds and issue tickets to drivers who exceed the speed limit.
DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah told ARY News that digital monitoring would help keep traffic accidents from happening. He also said that the system would be expanded to include other heavy trucks once it works well.

DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah has ordered that front and back view cameras be put on dumpers to help figure out who is at fault in an accident.
The choice came after more and more accidents on the roads were caused by big vehicles.
DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah has ordered the installation of trackers in all dumpers operating on Karachi’s roads, enabling traffic cops to monitor them from their control room.
At a meeting with the Dumpers Association, DIG Traffic got them to agree to follow the new safety rules.
The trackers will help find people who are going too fast, and people who go over the 60 km/h speed limit will be given a traffic ticket. At the DIG Traffic office, a digital tracking system will be set up to make sure everyone obeys the rules.
