A pro-Trump mob battled police, broke into the US Capitol, and sent members of Congress fleeing as lawmakers were counting Electoral College votes to confirm the presidential victory of Democrat Joe Biden. The rioters breached a threshold that had not been crossed in more than 200 years and disrupted the American democratic process. But did you know that this US Capitol hill riot had already been predicted by an American sitcom that too in The Simpsons? Yep.

As photos and videos of the unprecedented US Capitol violence trended on social media. Several netizens felt a déjà vu. Many claimed that such a situation of the US Capitol hill riot might have already been predicted by the famous animated series The Simpsons. As a matter of fact, the violence was predicted in season 7 of the series in episode 18 called ‘The Day the Violence Died’.

In that particular episode, the characters storm the capitol holding guns, and even bombs. In addition to this, Krusty the Clown presents ‘I’m an Amendment to Be’, depicting a Constitutional Amendment’s attempt to ban flag burning.

Conspiracy theorists call the writer of the show ‘Illuminati’ (The secret group that controls the media, wealth, and politics of the world). The rest just call them pure coincidence. The show has offered up approximately 153,149 jokes, give or take a few thousand. However, more than its joke and funny take on every situation. The fictional series has now built a reputation for predicting the future.

It made fictional and unrealistic scenarios many years back but it seems to prove right in the present time. Moreover, it has been running for almost 30 years, so it is inevitable that some themes that crop up in the show might occur in real life. But some of the plotlines are eerily close to events that have happened throughout the world.

Here’s how the show predicted the Capitol Hill riot

The show was launched in 1989 and the writer seemed to predict events that are happening now. Once again we came to know that the cartoon also predicted the recent unrest in the US.

Another image from the 31st Halloween special episode ‘Treehouse of Horror XXXI’ shows a cartoon version of Homer Simpson sitting on the roof of a house, with a gun in hand awhile everything is on fire around him. The picture has the date January 20, 2021, written on it.

Twittersphere also addresses the uncanny prediction

Gives goosebumps, doesn’t it? It must be noted that this is not the first time imagery from The Simpsons. It has depicted something from real-events with so many similarities. More so, it probably would not be the last.

From introducing the idea of a smartwatch to predicting Business tycoon Donald Trump as the next US President. The Simpsons have predicted a lot of close to reality future a decade ago. Some people maintain that the cartoon predicted the 2014 outbreak of Ebola 17 years before it happened.

In the past, many events, including 9/11, the Beirut blast, and many other events were somewhat shown in certain episodes which have fueled rumors, skepticism, and conspiracy theories on the internet.
