As the deadly coronavirus pandemic is spreading like wildfire, worldwide hospitals and health centers are filled with infected patients. Similar is the case with Pakistan as its tally surpassed 2,000 with several hospitals charging a hefty amount from arriving patients.
While many are busy making money off people’s misery, recently, Pakistan’s state of the art hospital is testing patients for free. Announced on its official Twitter handle, Shaukat Khanum Hospital has completely waived off its coronavirus testing fee. Currently, the cost of performing the coronavirus test is varying from Rs. 8,000 to 10,000 in Pakistan.

In these uncertain times, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Lahore is tirelessly treating the affected ones. As per the revealed details, the hospital has decided to waive off all hospital expenses including the purchase of COVID-19 test kits that can cost up to Rs. 8000.
Shaukat Khanum creating example for other healthcare organizations
In this hour of need, when charity organization like Shaukat Khanum have stepped up to help, other big names are brutally looting the people. While Prime Minister Imran Khan’s brainchild is treating coronavirus patients for free, well-reputed Agha Khan University Hospital is charging the same Rs. 8,000 per test.
However, carrying a positive name in the services industry, the Indus Hospital has decreased its coronavirus testing fee. As of now, the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc throughout the world affecting America the most. The latest numbers reveal that till now, nearly 2,00,000 cases have been reported in the US recording the highest fatality percentage around the globe.
Pakistanis helping the underprivileged during the coronavirus pandemic
Apart from some insensitive sources cashing out the coronavirus, the crisis has brought out the best in Pakistanis. Among welfare organizations tirelessly providing basic necessities to the underprivileged, several celebrities have also jumped in to help. Previously, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi also initiated the #DonateKaroNa challenge to help the poor and needy.
However, things turned worse after Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh offered to help. As always, the heated political ties between Pakistan and India resulted in the Indian nation criticizing their cricket heroes. Responsively, earlier both, Harbhajan and Yuvraj Singh backed off from supporting Shahid Afridi’s donation initiative.
Indeed, it is quite shameful of Indians who don’t understand the word ‘humanity’. To control the coronavirus disaster, world researchers are busy finding the cure for the disease but no experiment has been confirmed yet. For now, everyone is advised to adhere to the preventive measures in order to control the deadly pandemic from causing any further destruction.
