Cross-border exchanges often intrigue showbiz enthusiasts, particularly when they involve renowned personalities. A recent instance emerged when Pakistani comedian Shakeel Siddiqui shared his experiences working alongside Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan and highlighted the actor’s sentiments about Pakistan.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Perspective on Pakistan
In an interview with Tabish Hashmi, Shakeel disclosed, “Shah Rukh holds very favorable views of Pakistan, and several of his relatives still reside in Peshawar, including his cousins. My first encounter with him wasn’t on television but during a live show abroad, located about two hours from New Jersey.”
Shakeel elaborated further, “You might recall Shah Rukh mentioning being detained at the airport—this occurred while he was traveling to attend that same show. That event marked our first meeting. He appeared as an actor, while I performed as a comedian. We were the only two participants in the show. Following that, we collaborated on multiple events.”
Insights into Shah Rukh’s Character
Shakeel spoke highly of Shah Rukh’s personality, recounting an instance where a third party attempted to introduce them formally. Instead, Shah Rukh took the initiative to approach Shakeel directly, reflecting his down-to-earth nature.
The comedian also appreciated the Bollywood star’s work, stating that Shah Rukh had mentioned watching his performances. “Greatness isn’t achieved by chance; it stems from uplifting others,” Shakeel remarked.

Imitating Shah Rukh’s Signature Style
During the discussion, Shakeel humorously mimicked Shah Rukh’s distinctive acting style, acknowledging that he is not particularly fond of such impressions. “He would laugh and say, ‘When do I ever do this?’ And I’d respond, ‘You used to—perhaps you’re not aware of it now,’” Shakeel recalled, humorously imitating Shah Rukh’s vocal intonations and trademark stutter.
Shakeel also commented on the natural evolution of an artist’s voice over time, citing legends such as Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. “An actor’s voice changes in unique ways as they age,” he observed.
