Shahnawaz Dahani Upset By Asia Cup, Afghanistan Series Selection

Shahnawaz Dahani is upset and frustrated about not being selected for the Pakistan squad that will compete in the next Asia Cup 2023.

After a break of two years, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf made his comeback with the Pakistan national cricket team. His previous match for Pakistan was in July 2021.

The exclusion of Dahani caused suspicions to be raised, particularly after former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif distributed a list of the career statistics of Pakistani pacers who played in List-A. Unfortunately, Latif’s collection does not include Dahani’s remarkable statistics.

Dahani was irritated by the fact that this detail was left out. He implied that he had been overlooked and that he had not been given the attention that he deserved as a Pakistani pacer in a piece that he tweeted that highlighted his own statistics.

“Seems as if Dahani is not a Pakistani pacer??” Dahani tweeted.

In addition to this, the 25-year-old called attention to the fact that sports journalists weren’t asking any questions to the selector. He brought up the fact that nobody had the courage to criticize his membership in the squad or draw attention to the statistics that back up his case for being there.

“Not even a single journalist or cricket analyst even dared to ask questions or show these stats to selectors.” Dahani tweeted.

Later on, he decided to remove all of his tweets.

On Wednesday, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the president of the national men’s selection committee, announced Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming series and Asia cup 2023.

When Pakistan travels to Sri Lanka to face Afghanistan from the 22nd to the 26th of August, they will bring an 18-player team with them. After those matches, the squad will be cut down to 17 players in preparation for the Asia Cup, which will begin at the Multan Cricket Stadium on the 30th of August with a match between Pakistan and Nepal.
