Shahbaz Gill, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication, slammed PML-N leaders for dragging Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi into politics and making “black magic allegations” against her.
“They [PML-N] make allegations of black magic,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday. “People belonging to different schools of thought live in Pakistan and they all have different beliefs. Such insinuations are tantamount to hurting personal beliefs.”
He also slammed PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif for claiming that a “large quantity of meat was being burnt” at the PM’s Bani Gala residence. “Around 500 houses are situated near Bani Gala… is it possible to burn meat in such a large quantity without being noticed by anyone that a smoke billowing out from the house,” he questioned.
“You [Shehbaz Sharif] are making such ‘absurd and shameful’ allegations because you do not have any important thing to say,” said the PM’s aide. “You don’t have any right to disrespect anyone’s beliefs.”
“PML-N has a history of defaming women politicians,” said Gill. “When Maryam Safdar could not find any scandal against the government she resorted to personal attacks.”
He was responding to the allegations leveled by PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz against the first lady. Maryam while addressing a rally in the federal capital on Monday claimed that a “shocking corruption scandal” involving Bushra Bibi and one of her close friends, Farah Bibi will be exposed soon.
Have a look at the press conference:
“Since they [PML-N] don’t have anything against the first lady so they hurl allegations through her friend, Farah Bibi,” he added.
The SPAM said both women are apolitical and have no involvement in political matters. “First lady is not involved in political matters… she does not even have a bank account,” Gill said, adding that it is inappropriate to attack politician’s family members who are apolitical.
Bushra Bibi has been a mystery to the whole world ever since PM Khan married her. The two got married in February 2018. Describing his wife as his soulmate, the premier previously admitted that he consults her on political and government issues.
The prime minister also expressed these views about her amid the allegations that she is an essential part of the decision-making process in the current setup. In fact, he frequently praises his wife for her wisdom. Upon the completion of the PTI government’s first 100 days, he even credited her for ‘such a difficult life’.
