Schools to Stay Closed Tomorrow Due to Strike in AJK

Private schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will remain closed tomorrow (Thursday) because of a strike called by the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee.

The strike, set to begin on December 5, has been declared for an indefinite period. The All Private Schools Association and the All Azad Kashmir Traders Association have pledged their support, meaning businesses and private schools will stay shut.

However, the AJK Education Ministry has directed all government-run schools to remain open despite the strike.

This strike follows earlier protests in May, where the Joint Awami Action Committee successfully ended demonstrations after the government addressed their concerns about rising inflation.

It’s worth noting that AJK has experienced intense protests recently. Violent clashes during a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike earlier this year left three people dead and many others injured. On Monday, another clash in Muzaffarabad led to the death of one man and injuries to two others.
