The lethal pandemic of coronavirus is wreaking havoc on the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve. The whole world is fighting to make drugs or vaccines to fight the pandemic; however, nothing certain has achieved so far except for remdesivir, which is on emergency approval. In this scenario, certain herbs have shown promising results in treating Covid-19 patients due to there immunity-boosting properties.

Sanna Makki Benefits
Mainly Sanna Makki is used to treat stomach problems. FDA has approved it as a laxative. It is used to treat constipation, hemorrhoids, and post-anal operations. It is a herb mostly used in India, Pakistan, and China.
Just like Kalonji, Islam also backs the use of Sanna Makki.
“Hazrat Asma Bint Umaiz رضي الله عنها says that Rasoolullahﷺ asked her “What do you use as a (تستمشين) (laxative) she replied “Shabram” (الشبرم) (spruge). Rasoolullahﷺ said it is hot & powerful.(حار حار), She said then I used Sanna (senna) (السنا) as a laxative (تستمشين). And she said that Rasoolullahﷺ said “If there would be cure (شفاء) for death (الموت) it would be Sanna (Senna) (السنا). “

Moreover, at another place, Prophet Muhammad said there is a cure for death in the leaves of Sanna Makki.
“Ibrahim Bin Ablah heard Abu Bin Umm Haram رضي الله عنها says that Rasoolullahﷺ said that “For you Sanna (senna) (السنا) & Sannoot (السنوت) (Dill or else) is present, these have cure (شفاء) for all diseases except Saam (السام) (death), to this, he asked, to Rasoolullahﷺ what is Saam (السام)? Rasoolullahﷺ replied Maut (الموت) (death). Amr said: “Ibn Abu Ablah said: the “Sannoot is dill”. Others said: “Rather, it is honey that is kept in a skin (i.e. receptacle) used for ghee.”

[Kanz al-Ummal: 28270 & Baihaqi: 20065]“Hazrat Anas Bin Malik رضي الله عنه says that Rasoolullahﷺ said “There is cure (شفاء) in 3 things except Saam (السام) (death), Sanna (Senna) (السنا), Sannoot (السنوت) (dill or else) the third one is not mentioned due to forgetfulness.”

Besides, Science backs the fact that Senna Makki enhances one’s immunity. In fighting Covid-19 one needs to have good immunity.
Sanna Makki use against Corona Virus
A UK based doctor challenged people and said Senna Makki is the cure of Covid-19. As per the doctor, Sanna Makki (Kehva) can be used to treat the disease. He claimed that he has treated more than 400 coronavirus patients with Senna Makki. Furthermore, he said I can pay 20 million if the patient could not be cured with my way of using Sanna Maki.

Is it really effective against the virus?
The US-based doctor warned against the use of Sanna Makki. Dr. Faheem Younus, the chief of infectious diseases at the University of Maryland says its benefits are unclear.
He said, “traditional Asian/Chinese herbs can cause kidney or liver damage.”

On the other hand, Governor Sindh, Imran Ismail, who himself remained the victim of Covid-19, also backed the use of Sanna Makki or Seena leaves. “Coronavirus is not a disease that compulsorily ends in death. One can defeat the disease by following precautionary measures. The use of herbs could help you the most in this disease. Sanna Makki (Senna leaves) and ginger water benefited me during coronavirus infection”, the governor Imran said.
So what to do in this situation? As the herbal doctor recommended it but also warned against its overuse. The US-based doctor Yunus said there is a lack of evidence and it can cause more damage. In this situation, the only sure thing until now is that Sanna Makii boosts immunity and is a laxative. Besides, Islam also recommends its use.
To conclude, one should use the Sanna Makki for stomach problems. In order to fight COVID-19, one may use the herb as a fact that it can boost immunity. However, overuse can lead to disastrous impacts. Hence, in a nutshell, Sanna Makii is not a research-based herb to fight Covid-19, little is known as per yet, but it can boost immunity and flushes out toxins from your body if used properly.
