Mohammad Rizwan, the wicket-keeper batsman for Pakistan, scored the most T20I runs in 2022 during Friday’s final of the tri-nation series versus New Zealand at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Rizwan, who finished the series as the second-highest run-scorer, hit 34 runs off 29 balls to edge out Suryakumar Yadav, the leading run-scorer in the shortest version of the game.
Muhammad Rizwan T20 Record Achievement:
Rizwan has scored 821 T20I runs in 18 innings with a strike rate of 126.30 and an average of 54.73, while Yadav has scored 801 runs in 23 innings with strike rates of 40.05 and 184.53.
The 30-year-old also completed 2021 as the greatest run-getter in the format, with 1,326 runs in only 26 innings, including 1 century and 12 fifties, and was named the ICC’s T20I Cricketer of the Year.
The KP-born cricketer dethroned Babar Azam from the top spot in the T20I batting rankings last month, effectively ending the all-format captain’s 1025-day reign.
Rizwan was harshly criticised for his slow batting, but he silenced his detractors by finishing the Asia Cup as the top run-scorer and the tri-series as the second-highest run-scorer.
