This Religious Cleric Thinks Women Should Not Give Body Measurements To A Tailor

oversexualization of measurements

For more than 30 years Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Salfi has given speeches to people according to the principles of the Quran and Sunnah. However, recently, the cleric landed himself in an uncalled for controversy. He criticized women for telling the measurements of her chest, hip, and waist to a male dressmaker.

According to him, the act gives the impression of being objectionable and against the moral values of Islam. Pakistan’s social media users are having none of it! Right after his problematic speech emerged on social media, the Twittersphere strongly reacted to it.

How can anyone possibly have any problem with a woman giving her measurements to her tailor when he is the one to make the dress?

If you really think about it, it is a long, long way from being inappropriate. Is it inappropriate for a woman to get her clothes stitched by a male tailor? Or, is it the fact that the measurement numbers are sexually arousing? We will never know! Nonetheless, one thing we know for sure is that anybody with such thinking has some filth going on in his mind.

This is a bigger problem than it seems

Frankly speaking, only someone with a perverted and sick mentality would find such a thing objectionable. Mind you, if you find a female getting her dress made by a male tailor to be vulgar, something is definitely wrong with your mindset. You need help.

The job of a tailor is to make dresses out of the given numbers. However, it seems as though some men sexualize that as well. Can you even imagine sexualizing a bunch of numbers on a piece of paper?

Come to think of it, expressing disapproval of a woman sharing her measurements only shows how deeply embedded sickness is in our society. In addition to this, from what it appears, the objective here is simple, i.e. to ostracize and marginalize women.

Not surprising that all sane people share the same view and have taken to Twitter to school the cleric for this obscene mindset.

Twittersphere calls out the cleric for over-sexualization of body measurements

Keeping the current situation of our country in mind, with the rising rape culture, this kind of mentality only further feeds the sickness. Moreover, anyone with such thinking should probably consider giving up their title of a cleric, given that so many people listen to them and are disillusioned by their credentials.

Sadly, this shows how a huge segment of our society shares such a sick mentality. How can a video of a woman working out on television be vulgar, inappropriate, and sexual? Dear misogynists, LET WOMEN BREATHE!
