There is a host of reasons why Muslims consider Islam to be the most perfect of all religions. The crux of the religion lies in the knowledge provided to mankind before the concept of science or society had come along. Allah Almighty’s revelations and instructions for a prosperous life make Islam and the Holy Quran a complete code of life.
Modern day science proclaims itself as the best source of knowledge, however, for Muslims, the Holy Quran holds the answer to every question. When it comes to childbirth, the Quran suggested the proper method of childbirth long before science had come along.
The Quran on Hazrat Bibi Maryam (A.S) giving birth to Hazrat Essa (A.S)
In Surah-Al-Maryam, Allah Almighty explains the proper method of childbirth and how it can be easy for a woman. The surah, which is based on Hazrat Bibi Maryam (A.S), mother of Hazrat Essa (A.S) (Jesus), in detail tells how Allah guided Bibi Maryam during the birth of Hazrat Essa (A.S).
Childbirth is said to be the most painful process a woman goes through, thus, realizing the complexity of the procedure, In Surah-Al-Maryam, Allah ordered Hazrat Maryam (A.S) to go near a stream of water where there is a palm tree present as well. The Almighty then instructed her to shake the palm tree and pull at it from the trunk, so the dates can fall off the tree, while she is in labor. The instructions of The Almighty cannot be questioned, but for pseudo-intellectuals who believe in science as the only source of knowledge, the miracle needs to be explained.
The miracle of childbirth according to the Holy Quran in Surah-Al-Maryam
Almost 1400 years ago, when there was no concept of hospitals and modern medical procedures, Allah Almighty presented the miracle of Hazrat Essa (A.S)’s childbirth by the process stated above. The miracle? Well, you be the judge.
First of all, Allah Almighty ordered Hazrat Maryam (A.S) to go near a stream of water where there is a palm tree present. He then asked her to shake the tree and keep pulling at it. Now, according to science and modern medicine, when a woman is in labor, she needs to hold onto something and keep pulling at it so the process eases the pain and releases muscle tension.
Allah Almighty then instructs Hazrat Maryam (A.S) to cool herself with water which is present near the stream. Modern medicine and gynecologists all around the world suggest that the woman sits in cold water while she gives birth, same as The Almighty’s instructions were. This helps cope up with the pain of childbirth.
Furthermore, Allah then orders Hazrat Maryam (A.S) to eat the dates that have fallen from the tree, as He previously asked her to shake its trunk. The question arises, why eat the dates? Well, according to ‘science’, dates contain absorbable sugar which helps the body’s heat cool down and the fructose present in the dates helps ease movement of blood and raise the woman’s blood pressure.
Thus, proving that the ‘modern methods’ to ease pain during childbirth were instructed by Allah Almighty himself 1400 years ago. A believer forever remains a believer, and those who do not believe, it’s never too late for them.
