The governments of Sindh and Punjab announced the closure of all schools on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in observance of Shab-e-Barat (15th Shaban 1447).

The official notice says that all schools, public and private, will be closed. This gives students an unexpected day off to do spiritual things.

A notice from the School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, said, “All public and private schools under the department’s control will be closed on February 4, 2026, in observance of Shab-e-Barat. This is in line with the decision made at the Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024.”

Millions of Muslims in Pakistan and around the world pray and think about their good deeds on Shab-e-Barat, a night with deep spiritual meaning. On the 14th of Shaban, Muslims are supposed to pray the Salat al-Tasbeeh, which is a crucial prayer that is usually said in mosques.
