This year’s Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) filled with controversy but no surprise at all. Since the nominations were revealed, the winners were clear in front of the audience and that put some highlight on the PISA’s criteria.

Last night was the glamorous one with celebrities and digital stars. Some had the best night, others just there to cheer for their co-fellow mates.

But before the night began, things didn’t go well for the two bands and they were left out in the darkness by PISA management.

It was not so surprising when the winners were announced, because looking at the nominations it was clear what people will decide.

So, how about without wasting any time let’s jump into the winners of PISA 2021.

Each category winner wasn’t a surprise as no one could beat them. Despite big management mistakes and tickets cancellation of Baluch Twins who highlighted the issue on social media.  

The night was hosted by none other than Vasay Chaudhry and he tried to make the evening joyful.

But the main award winners were Asim Azhar, Feroze Khan, and Sonya Hussyn who received the award with overwhelming and teary eyes.

Just like last year, some veteran celebrities were called for not being nominated and this time some outstanding performances were held too.

Star performers of PISA at the press conference

Mehwish Hayat, Faysal Quraishi, Amar Khan, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Ali Butt, Sheheryar Munawar, Yasir Hussein, and Faryal Mehmood spoke at a Press conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Mall of the Emirates.

Talking to the Khaleej Times, Mehwish Hayat who also performed with Shehryar Munawar answered the interviewer’s question by referring Korean TV Show Squid Game and said the world is changing.

“Even though it came from a very small country, it gained popularity across the world. Indian actors have played Pakistani roles, but soon, we hope that there would be Pakistanis who would be playing Pakistani characters.”

The host of the PISA 2021, Vasay Chaudhry also shared his opinion on how difficult it is to keep the audience happy.

“I will never crack jokes that you cannot tolerate in front of your mother or sister,” said Chaudhry, the writer, and actor of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.

“I have not changed my benchmarks for what is appropriate in the last five years – which is when everyone has suddenly gotten too sensitive – I have had that compass since I left my house to work in this industry.”
