Pakistan Bureau of Statistics recorded the lowest level of inflation recorded in the span of 34 months. Moreover, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed inflation at 9.6 percent. Additionally, the CPI is calculated on a year-to-year (YoY) basis.
Topline Securities, a Karachi-based brokerage firm testified to the new data released, in a statement it said, “This takes 2MFY25 average inflation to 10.36pc compared to 27.84pc in 2MFY24,”. Furthermore, it came as a domino-effect of the record 34-month low.
It is pertinent to note the difference between rural and urban inflation—meanwhile, urban inflation increased by 11.7 percent. However, rural inflation amounted to an increase of 6.7 percent.
Important to highlight is the relationship between inflation and CPI. CPI accounts for all household inflation. Furthermore, it includes statistics on price change.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif showed satisfaction with the single-digit inflation. Simultaneously, he praised the economic team and their advisors. Moreover, he highlighted the team’s performance over the last three years.
Following the achievement milestone, he reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of the lives of the people of Pakistan. In a statement, he stated, “Achieving Pakistan’s development goals is unattainable without improving the lives of ordinary people and ensuring economic prosperity,”
