The Way Pakistanis reacted to Om Puri’s death will leave you speechless

Veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri passed away in Mumbai earlier this morning. He was 66 years old.

It is reported that the former actor suffered a heart attack this morning. He starred in one of the most popular films to grace the Bollywood film industry. Om Puri acted in both art and mainstream popular films that we have across to since the 1980s.

Last year, he also appeared in a Pakistani film called, Actor In Law. He used to visit Pakistan frequently and was also an ardent proponent of Pakistan-India cultural alliance and was always pictured in the literary festival circuit here in Pakistan.

Om Puri once shared his filming experience of Actor In Law in Pakistan. He reported, “I really like working in Pakistan, because I’m pampered a lot here. I keep responding to people’s salaams from morning to night. So many people want to throw me a dinner party at their house. And everyone wants a selfie.”

He added, “I’ve known Pakistanis abroad for about 20 years. I have always received love from them, so much so that it’s hard to believe that there are conflicts between our two countries. I pray that we find our way to peace and both countries work towards progress, friendship, and trade.”

On the occasion of his death, Pakistanis have reached out to share their messages. See how they have reacted to it:

Losing Om Puri is a massive loss for both Pakistan and India. His work and experience graced industries in both regions. He will be forever remembered for his work and his legacy shall continue. He set the epitome of love and continued to negate the hate between Pakistan and India. Just how our fellow Pakistanis continue to remember him in kind words is evident of it.

Our sincerest condolences to Om Puri’s family in this hard time. We pray that he may find peace in the afterlife. His body is held at his residence at Andheri. His old friends and colleagues have joined to pay their respects. Om Puri’s body was taken to Cooper hospital for an autopsy, after which a proper funeral will be held.
