Meesha Shafi, a pop sensation, will make her name in the Pakistani-American movie Mustache alongside Alicia Silverstone from Clueless and acclaimed comic Hasan Minhaj.
Imran J. Khan makes his directorial debut with this movie, according to the entertainment website Deadline. Imran J. Khan is best known for the award-winning short film Prom, which was inspired by Minhaj’s stand-up comedy show Homecoming King.

In the mostly autobiographical project, Rizwan Manji, Atharva Verma, Ayana Manji, Meesha Shafi, Alicia Silverstone, and Hasan Minhaj have all agreed to star.
“I’m incredibly humbled and honoured to be working with the fantastic team at production company MakeSay as well as the talented Christopher Storer to bring my very personal and frequently outlandish film, Mustache, to life,” stated Imran J. Khan. There isn’t a better group I can conceive of to work with to make this movie.”
Ilyas (Atharva Verma), a quirky 13-year-old boy, is the main character in Mustache. He attempts to navigate the social order of his new California public school while sporting a moustache that his parents won’t let him get rid of.
Meesha Shafi will portray Ilyas’ mother, and Rizwan Manji will play Hameed, the boy’s father. Yasmeen, the classmate of Ilyas, will be portrayed by the latter’s daughter, Ayana.
Hasan Minhaj and Alicia Silverstone’s roles have not yet been given any specifics.
Along with American Light and Fixture’s Christopher Storer and Tyson Bidner, the team behind the successful television series Ramy and The Bear for Hulu and FX, respectively, Christina Won of Birdman fame and Jessica Sittig are producing the film.
