Responding to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri rejected the story as false and baseless.

Besides, he added Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong fraternal ties. He added the two countries have always cooperated with each other on all matters of bilateral, regional, and international importance.

The spokesperson said Pakistan greatly values its relations with Saudi Arabia and firmly rejects such malicious propaganda.

He said FATF will announce its assessment of Pakistan’s progress on the Action Plan. Moreover, it will also devise Pakistan’s future course of action after the conclusion of its Plenary Meeting.

The statements come after journalist, Sabir Shakir. He claimed that Saudi Arabia had voted against Pakistan in the virtual plenary of the FATF, this news of being backstabbed turned out to be fake.

Meanwhile, a virtual meeting of the FATF will happen from Oct 21-23. It will decide if Pakistan should be excluded from its ‘grey list’. The decision will be made after a review of Islamabad’s performance to meet global commitments and standards on the fight against money laundering and terror financing (ML&TF).

Earlier in August, issues had appeared between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia over Kashmir. However, FO had again clarified that there were no rifts between the two nations.
