Nation Celebrates Pakistan Day at Homes with Pledge to Fight COVID-19

The nation celebrates Pakistan Day on Monday at homes in the face of outbreak of novel coronavirus. All kinds of public gatherings, including the military parade, have already been postponed as precautionary measures.

However, Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television will air special programmes related to this day. Several Pakistani celebrities, diplomats and sportspersons took to varying social media platforms, requesting the nation to keeps their spirits high as they celebrate the day at homes amid social distancing.

In their Pakistan Day messages, President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the nation to show utmost unity, discipline and passion in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the country.

The president and the premier also paid homage to the founding leaders of the country [Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal and other members of the freedom movement].

Moreover, PM Imran urged people not to panic and take precautionary measures to fight the deadly contagion.

“The Pakistani nation has the capability to face any ordeal and God willing, we will stand victorious in this test,” the premier said.

On the other hand, Tom Suozzi, US Representative for New York’s 3rd district also congratulated Pakistan on the occasion.

Ali Alizada, current Azerbaijan Ambassador to Pakistan sent good wishes to the nation in Urdu. He assured that Azerbaijan will always stand with Pakistan in its difficult times.

Pakistan also received love from Iran and Germany as the representatives from these countries wished Pakistan everlasting peace and prosperity.

Moreover, many Pakistani artistes, sportspersons and politicians also sent beautiful messages filled with love with regards to this day.

Pakistan Resolution Day

Pakistan Resolution Day is a day when the nation commemorates the Lahore Resolution passed on 23 March 1940. Today, Pakistan also celebrates the adoption of its first constitution during the transition of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 23 March 1956 making it world’s first Islamic republic. A Republic Day parade by the armed forces is a part of the celebrations every year.

However, this year due to coronavirus outbreak in the country, all the parade and special programs have been cancelled.
