One Pakistani Couple Canceled Their Dream Wedding And Donated All The Money To Charity!

From time to time, there are certain things you come across and just cannot ignore. There are also times when some praiseworthy efforts go unnoticed as well. Last year, a Pakistani couple canceled their dream wedding and donated all the wedding expense to charity, but nobody noticed.

Weddings in Pakistan are taken as a sacred bond between two people and that’s how it should be. However, the 21st-century wave of capitalism has hit the wedding business hard, for the better. As for the people who are a part of the marriage ceremony, the financial burden is evident from their faces and tastes.

Locked in a battle of who could serve more guests or have the most lavish wedding, Pakistanis are busy nailing their own feet with an ax. One Pakistani couple decided to break the stereotype last year and did what nobody expected of them. They canceled their dream wedding to donate all the money to charity.

Meet Shehzaan and Zainab Chunara, a young and bright couple who went against the odds. “We began tallying up expenses and started to think it wasn’t worth putting that much money toward something that would only last a few days,” Shehzaan told Today.com.  “Something didn’t quite feel right. We wanted to use the money for something that will have a lasting impact.”

It was then the decision time. The couple donated all the money they had saved up and donated to a well-reputed NGO, the Aghakhan Foundation. The couple was fond of the charity organization and believed they would do the best with their money. The NGO, according to Shehzaan, would help eradicate poverty by investing in education, something every Pakistani dreams of.

“I’ve seen poverty up close and it’s extremely heart-wrenching,” Shehzaan said. “We felt like it was the right thing to do to give someone an opportunity to have clean water, an education and a roof over their head.”

The couple didn’t just donate money themselves, but also urged their guests to donate to the NGO instead of giving them gifts on their marriage. If this isn’t marriage goals, we have no idea what marriage goals would be like. More power to Shehzaan and Zainab, you guys deserve every bit of love, adoration, and praise for what you did!
