After long years of the decade, India’s dominancy in ICC events over Pakistan and the streak has been broken or say shattered. Pakistan beats India with a big margin with no wicket loss in their first T20 World Cup match.
It’s the first time none of Pakistan’s captains has done it before, Babar Azam became the first captain to secure a great and impressive win against India in the World Cup tournament. Pakistani players brutally demolished Indian players in every manner, from bowling to batting.
In bowling, Shaheen Shah Afridi dismantles Indian openers Rohit Sharma on duck and KL Rahul. It was the new energy in the stadium, they stepped in the ground in the beginning like they own this match and they won the match in classic style.
India also faced the first loss with no wicket in hand. Right now, Pakistan is in the seventh sky because what the national team has done is the best gift for the nation.
Pakistan outnumbered India in T20 World Cup match
The match started in favor of Pakistan when Babar Azam won the toss and then Shaheen came like a lion in the starting over. The way Pakistani bowlers exhibited their bowling skills and stopped them to make runs was impressive.
Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets and sent them to the pavilion. At the beginning of the first innings, Shaheen broke the opening partnership, but the skipper Virat Kohli held his team.
But other players couldn’t keep up with him and retain long partnerships.
India scored 151 runs in 20 overs in the first innings. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan entered to bat like Shaheens. They faced every bowler bravely and didn’t hesitate to score runs.
Both of the openers scored in the fifties and showed mature performance. None of the Indian bowlers were able to take a wicket and that’s more embarrassing.
Pakistan cricket team faced a hard time before the tournament, first New Zealand canceled the series and then in the criticism for the team selection.
‘This was the team’s effort’ – Babar Azam
On the historic win, Babar Azam the captain of the Pakistan cricket team said, “this was the team’s effort, and the early wickets were very helpful. It gave us a lot of confidence and our spinners were very good as well. We applied our plans and got the results.
We, the openers, kept it simple and built a partnership, and because the wicket was getting better so we just wanted to keep batting till the end, which we did. It won’t get easier just because Pakistan beats India in T20.
We will take the confidence, but we’re taking it one match at a time, and there’s a long way to go in the tournament.
We needed quality practice, and warm-up matches, and even our domestic tournament and those games gave us a lot of confidence.”
Further, he said, “The plan with Rizwan was to keep it simple. We tried to get deep in the crease and from about the eighth over, the dew came in and the ball came on nicely.
This is just the start, we have [the] confidence to build on this win.”
‘We couldn’t execute’ – Virat Kohli
On the other Virat Kohli expressed his views on the loss, “we didn’t execute properly. Credit where it’s due and Pakistan outplayed us today.
They started brilliantly with the ball, and 3 wickets for 20 runs was not a good start. We needed wickets early but with the bat, they gave us absolutely no chances.
It played slow in the first half and hitting through the line was not that easy as it was in the second half, after 10 overs.
We needed those 15-20 extra runs and for that, we needed a good start but Pakistan’s bowling didn’t allow us to get those extra runs.
We could make the argument of getting in another slower bowler, but it’s important to stay composed and understand our strengths because with the dew the slower bowlers couldn’t be effective either.
This is just the first game of the tournament, not the last.”
No one expected this sort of outcome from the match at all. Pakistani cricket fans were in joy and the team has broken the myth of not winning any match in the World Cup tournament.
