According to the Holy Quran-e-Pak, the importance of Namaz (Salat) can be noted on a number of occasions. For example, the Quran-e-Pak states how Namaz helps in staying connected with Allah:
With this study released, an investigator Mohammad Khasawneh stated that because the movements while offering Namaz are similar to yoga, these movements reduce the pain.
According to the research he did while formulating his paper titled An ergonomic study of body motions during Muslim prayer using digital human modeling, published in the International Journal of Industrial and Systems Engineering, the kneeling position Muslims make while performing sujud increases elasticity in joints.
“Prayer can eliminate physical stress and anxiety, while there is also research that indicates prayer rituals can be considered an effective clinical treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction.”
Yoga and physical therapies are used worldwide to reduce lower back pain, whereas Muslims take full advantage of Salah in this aspect as well.
Before such finding, science also concluded how drinking water while sitting down is also beneficial for the body, which is already declared as a sunnah in the light of Quran and Islam. Drinking water while sitting down is beneficial for joints and kidney according to science.
In a personal opinion, I believe eventually, most of the teachings given out by Islam are step by step proving to be vitally important in the light of science. For example, science also suggested the eating pork is not wise for people, something which Islam already concludes as haram.
It is amazing how Namaz is so beneficial for followers in terms of spirituality, religious and physical aspects.
