According to researchers from a reputable international agency, these seven cities are rising to the standards of being the top 10 World’s richest cities, and it won’t be long when cities like New York or Hong Kong will be pushed down that list.
1. Doha, Qatar
With Qatar already being on the list of the top richest countries of the World, Doha is expected to rise in terms of contribution to the per capita GDP of the country. Another factor is the 2022 Soccer World Cup that will be taking place in Qatar, which is attracting huge foreign investments within the country.
2. Bergen, Norway
Bergen, the second most populous city of Norway, holds the hub for industries like energy, shipping and marine research. Already at the top of the country’s economy, researchers predict it will rise more to be one of the richest in the world.
3. Hwaseong, South Korea
Hwaseong, the automobile and electronics center of South Korea, is a rapidly rising city in terms of per capita GDP and global recognition. It is home to the global research facilities of Hyundai and Samsung, as well as flagship plants for Kia and LG Electronics.
4. Rhine Ruhr, Germany
Just behind Paris and London, Rhine Ruhr is the third largest areas in Europe, and the most successful urban areas of Germany. In addition to the 12 Fortune 500 companies, Rhine Ruhr also includes powerhouses of German industry and finance.
5. Macau, China
Even though last year proved to be a disaster for Macau’s economy when an anti-corruption drive on Casino’s slumped it’s economy 17%, Macau is expected to recover and witness growth by next year. Moving ahead of Casino’s, the main source of Macau’s economy, it must find other drivers of income to be in the top 10 richest cities.
6. Trondheim, Germany
Another city from Norway, and the birthplace of mobile tech, Trondheim is booming in terms of economy and additional start-ups. It was here that the GSM standard was invented in the 1980’s. Local tech has been rising, with more than 10,000 employees involved in it’s production.
7. Asan, South Korea
Like Hwaseong, Asan too is the industrial hub of South Korea. Asan benefits from being near the port of Pyeongtaek, the closest port to east China, and a global shipping hub, and is expected to be one of the top richest cities in the World.
